We are a boutique real estate brokerage and equity partnership firm going back to the 1950s through three generations. We are a full-service firm: we list properties for sellers, find properties for buyers and have excelled at working with investor/partners “flipping” ranches for decades.
The Nisbet family laid down roots in Texas when Alfred and Helen Nisbet arrived in San Antonio in the 1940s. Alfred was the second Ophthalmologist by 6 months to arrive and a bank refused to loan him $100 to buy a car, saying that San Antonio could not support two eye doctors! Ironically, years later, he was in a group bidding to buy that very same bank.
When Helen Nisbet obtained her Real Estate Broker License in the 1950s, she became the second female ranch broker in Texas. Attending Stanford University at age 15, graduating at 19, and having gone through and survived the Great Depression, she knew a great investment when she saw one: The Nisbet family bought their first ranch near Sisterdale in Kendall County in 1952 and sold this ranch to buy one on the NE edge of San Antonio where they lived for many years. They subsequently purchased another ranch as an investment on the NW edge of San Antonio and then one just south of Medina Lake that is still owned by a family member. Helen Nisbet worked for years finding ranch investments for renowned San Antonio land developer David Miller and then when David Miller retired, for Aaron Mandel.
Helen and Alfred’s oldest son, David, attended the University of Texas at Austin and joined his mother in the real estate business in the 1970s. David started investing in ranches with a partner and alone soon thereafter. What followed has been a very successful 40-year campaign of buying and selling ranches as well as 100s of millions of dollars in retail ranch sales with many of Texas’ most successful businessmen and women.
Examples of our equity partnerships in recent years include contracting 717 acres aka “Cordova Bend” with over 5 miles of frontage on Canyon Lake that we assigned to our equity partner (Red McCombs) who brought in a developer. We did the same thing with our 2,287 acre Live Springs Ranch near Kerrville which has all been sold. Some of our other recent, very successful acquisitions and equity partner financial successes include the 2,282 acre James River Ranch with ownership of both sides of the river, the 1,560 acre Reunion Creek Ranch which we sold off in two parcels, and many others.
